Liverpool continued their impressive start to the new Premier League season on Sunday, with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over an impressive West Ham side that had every intention of causing an upset at Anfield. However, despite going into the break at half-time level on goals, Jürgen Klopp’s side rallied in the second half and ended up picking up a well-deserved three points for their troubles.

The Premier League is the next of the top five leagues to get new market values before Christmas, and the world’s most expensive football market has two midfielders, who already broke the €100 million mark in the last update, making further progress – worldwide, there are now only six players with a higher market value than the pair. With just one defeat from their first 17 Premier League games and no extended Champions League campaign to worry about, Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool side have surprised many through the manner in which they’ve raced towards the top half of the league table and involved themselves in this season’s title race. That, undoubtedly, is due to a number of new signings and star players stepping up a gear and performing for the Anfield side. Jürgen Klopp shook the world of football, and sent earthquakes through Merseyside, when he announced that he would be stepping down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season. The German has been in charge since 2015, and has won every trophy possible during his nine years with the Reds. In an official statement, Klopp said: “It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.” And when you analyse how Klopp has had Liverpool competing right at the top of the game for the past five or six years without anywhere near the net spend of the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, or Chelsea, it’s easy to understand the 56-year-old’s necessity to take a break. Liverpool host Chelsea this Wednesday, in their first Premier League game since the news emerged about Klopp departing.
